Another week has come and gone

Today is Halloween, it just hit me, the reality of it. I realize that it’s here and I’m thinking how did this happen? It was just the 4th of July! What happened to the time? There are just under 9 weeks left until the end of 2010. The clock continues to tick and I find myself asking how am I spending my time. Am I where I want to be?

My memory goes back to Oct 2003 it was Halloween, we had arrived here in Melbourne. Moving lock stock and barrel from NJ. What a sight it was, a 3 vehicle caravan, a U-Haul Truck, a Van pulling a trailer and a Saturn packed with everything we owned and 3 cats to start a new life. It’s been 7 years now and it is plainly obvious to me that I am a different person today. Life has certainly been interesting since Gloria and I arrived here.

Without getting into it, I realize now more than ever that Time is the most important asset that I own and more importantly, that it can not be replaced. I ask myself daily what is the single best use of my time. Am I on a daily basis, doing the things that will get me closer to my goal? Am I moving towards my vision? Am I spending time with loved ones?

One of the lessons from this year is a hard learned one. Always make sure you have a plan “B”. Deals don’t always work out like you want them to. You have to be ready for the unexpected. Have a contingency plan ready for when things don’t go as planned. The corollary to that is this, do what is necessary to keep your pipeline full.

The best thing that happened to me so far this year was becoming the Director of Space Coast Entrepreneurs. This club has been helpful to me personally especially getting through the deals that didn’t make it. Getting close to the goal and then having it vanish due to no fault of your own can be very disheartening. Associating with like minded entrepreneurs really helps. I realized that I was in business for myself, not by myself.

Last week the members of Space Coast Entrepreneurs got together for Monday Morning Motivators, The Business Leaders Lunch and the weekly training which was a special Hotel event on Doing Business with the Government, B2G. Each event went well, attended by members and guests alike.

The support of the club was really well demonstrated at the Business Leaders Lunch. That is a bi-weekly event that allows the members to hone their presentation skills. Frank Dimond as Host and Jerry Barvitskie as speaker. Both did an awesome job. It was a first for each one and they really stepped up. Neither would have had the opportunity had it not been for the club.

That is what the club is about helping and supporting. I learned this saying from Bruce Kuczinski and it makes a lot of sense. “Some times you need the meeting and other times the meeting needs you.”

The Business to Government seminar was just flat out informative. The Gov’t is a huge purchaser of goods and services and they are mandated to do 20% of their business with small businesses. Randy Mauldin has an excellent understanding of how the process works and he provided an excellent overview of how to go about doing it.

It’s time once again for Monday Morning Motivators.

Join us at 7:30am for breakfast at Duran Golf Club. Mix and mingle with like minded entrepreneurs. Talk about your wins from last week and your affirmations for the coming week.

The club is about you, me and all the members.
We benefit from meeting and supporting each other.

Our income will be the average of our 5 closest friends.
With the members of Space Coast Entrepreneurs as
our friends our odds are greatly improved.

See you Monday Morning.
